This website invites you to explore the ways in which we can create a kinder world for animals.  It contains links to publications as well as a blog and a variety of media for adults and children. The proceeds from the sales of our books are donated to animal sanctuaries and rescue groups and also fund our continued efforts to educate others about cruelty free living. We welcome your feedback and contributions.

An Adventure in understAnding

It's time to begin a new journey of awakening and evolution. Turning Points in Compassion is a powerful testimony to our individual capacities to transform our world view and see with new eyes. For so long we have viewed animals as inferior beings whose value is measured in terms of their use to humans. But an evolution is taking place both in science as well as in the hearts and minds of individuals from all walks of life.

Animals are now being recognised for the sentient and intelligent beings they are. No longer can we pretend that our old world view is one we can maintain if we are going to preserve the earth and all its inhabitants. Nor can we continue to turn a blind eye to the immense suffering our food choices inflict on the beings whose personal choice, so precious to so many humans, is taken away with so little regard for their right to life. 

Turning Points in Compassion is an adventure for every reader who has the openess of mind and courage to be challenged and transformed into having a new perception of the world and the lifestyle choices they make.

SPIRITWINGS PUBLICATIONS FOR CHILDREN

Of all the things we can teach children, kindness and compassion towards all living creatures is perhaps one of the most important.  For so long we have made academic learning the priority and even though it has an important place in our lives, it is often to the exclusion of nurturing the qualities that contribute to the harmony and peace of the planet.

Spiritwings Publications are designed to foster a more aware and caring attitude to all living things.  They promote cruelty free living in all that we do, and and as a result, benefit our planet, the animals and ourselves in the process.

Taking a new direction

My background is in teaching which spans primary school, teacher training and adult education. I have also worked with physically and intellectually disabled adults and helped them to develop literacy and numeracy skills.

I continue to teach in the area of music but my direction took an unexpected turn after developing a deep bond with a rescue bird about a decade ago.  My interest in animal welfare was sparked and the more I learned and connected with animals, the more my commitment grew. I got involved in animal care and read and studied a great deal, including taking a course called The World Peace Diet. I had been vegetarian since my twenties simply because I didn’t like the idea of meat but now my dietary choices took on a whole new meaning.

Inspired by a vision for a world where animals can live a life free of suffering, I established my publishing house Spiritwings Publications to produce books and educational materials for children and adults.
